Therapy for Children
It’s no secret that kids don’t communicate the same way as adults, and that’s especially true when it comes to therapy. Children rarely sit down and talk about what’s going on like most adults do. Because most children don’t learn to think abstractly until 11 or 12, they express themselves best through play. I have specialized training in child therapy modalities so I can meet your child where they’re at.
For most children, I use play-based approaches that allow kids to express what they don't yet have the words for, helping them process big feelings in their most natural language. The older your child is, the more I incorporate more skill-based therapy modalities, matching your child's development. For children 4 years old and up, we can work together to discover what works best for your child.
“Toys are used like words by children, and play is their language” -Gary Landreth
